Archaeology Team Co-Leader Dr. Scott Hamilton Receives J.V. Wright Lifetime Achievement Award
Earlier in November, Archaeology Team Co-Leader Dr. Scott Hamilton received the J.V. Wright Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ontario Archaeological Society. The award is granted on occasion to an outstanding Ontario professional archaeologist whose life’s work has been consistently of the highest standard, who has made an exceptional contribution to the development of archaeology in this region, has published widely, is recognized for advancing the practice of archaeology, has earned acclaim for excellence, and has inspired others. The Lifetime Achievement Award is one of the highest honours the Society can bestow.
While the Six Seasons Partnership Project certainly knows this to be true about Dr. Hamilton, it is wonderful to see him formally acknowledged in this way. When receiving the award, he thanked the Ontario Archaeological Society, the nominators, friends, colleagues and his wife Bev. He had this to say about the award, "Receiving recognition with an award named in honour of Dr. J. V. Wright is just about as good as it gets for an archaeologist studying Canadian Indigenous history."
